Shun Kazami is one of the main characters from the Bakugan Battle Brawler anime.
Along with Dan, Shun co-created the rules and regulations of Bakugan and is a master of the game. Shun is a loner, a boy of very few words, yet is willing to help his friends at every turn. He approaches the game like a Ninja warrior, very calculating. Shun uses the wind attributes in battle. Many fans like to pair him with Alice, although throughout the series he has shown tiny interest in Julie Makimoto.
Shun is one of the calmest brawlers in the series. He rarely gets flustered or annoyed, and even when he is annoyed, he maintains a cool voice (although he voices his displeasure). Shun is a lone wolf and always focuses in battles.
In the XP4 fics, Shun debuted in XP4 Heroes Coalition - Kick-Off!.
In the AWA fics, Shun is a student at the AWA Academy and is part of Class 15. Shun is also part of the AWA Rookie 20 and is ranked # 14.
Appearance[]
Shun's outfit in Bakugan Battle Brawlers was a black shirt, covered with a thin purple triangular-backed ending. He had black pants with a brown zipper like designs on around them. His black hair consists of two layers. The first layer of hair is the front all one his forehead, and his second layer is the straight hair tied up with a ponytail. His light brown eyes are in an upset mood.
In Bakugan Battle Brawlers: New Vestroia, Shun's outfit consists of a fully black sweater-like turtleneck, gloves that reach to his elbows, black Vestal jeans that he stole along with the rest of the outfit from when he infiltrated the Vestals after he saved Ingram. He has black rubber boots that almost goes to his knees. He later wears a long green vest up to his knees with a belt on the side when its open. When he is on Earth he wears black pants with a black shirt with green markings. Shun's hair is almost the same only the difference is that he cut off his ponytail and his hair is now up to his neck.
In Bakugan: Gundalian Invaders, he wears a green ninja style shirt with purple and gold trimming, black pants, black wrist bands and purple and green boots.
In Arc 1 of Bakugan: Mechtanium Surge, Shun sports a light green shirt under a white shirt with dark green trimming, a dark green choker, tan colored pants and light brown boots. His hair is starting to grow more.
In Arc 2, he wears a green jacket and a green shirt with white pants along with black shoes.
Personality[]
Shun is one of the calmest Brawlers in the series. He rarely gets flustered or annoyed and even when he is annoyed; he maintains a cool voice (even though he voices his displeasure). Shun is a lone wolf and always focuses in battles. However, his stamina does have its limits; shown by how he tires after a large amount of constant battling. He has distaste for BakuNano as he sees them as dangerous for inexperienced Brawlers to have but gradually uses his own when needed. Shun has good instincts as he is able to discern a person's actions by their personality.

In Chapter 1, Shun alongside his team, the Squad of Excellence and the Universal Guardians are seen in Peach Creek City taking on a large number of Emotionless. And after getting rid of the creatures, Shun alongside everyone celebrated their mission's success.
XP4 Heroes Coalition - Neo-City Diaries[]
In Chapter 7, Shun, alongside members of the Universal Guardians and Squad of Excellence, is present in the Mission Briefing Room in the Training Facility where Dr. Michael Pating brief them about their mission in the Halidom of Ylisse before departing.
In Chapter 44, Shun, alongside the rest of the Squad of Excellence, welcomes Cyrille and Toma Wildchild for becoming an official member of the team.
In Chapter 46, Shun is seen in the courtyard of the Vanguard Academy when Denki Kaminari announced that Ash Ketchum had won the Alolan League and took part of cheering their friend's latest achievement.
In Chapter 62, Shun, alongside the rest of the Squad of Excellence, are seen inside the briefing room of the Training Camp where Dr. Michael Pating and Samurai Jack briefed them of their new mission.
XP4 Heroes Coalition - Awakening[]
In Chapter 1, Shun, alongside members of the Universal Guardians and Squad of Excellence, arrives in a forest somewhere in Ylisse and appears to be lost. They later came across Chrom, Frederick, Lissa and Robin and quickly befriends them. After having conversation about the Emotionless, both sides decided to work together to eliminate the creatures. They decided to camp for the rest of the night.
In Chapter 2, Shun, alongside members of the Universal Guardians, the Squad of Excellence and Chrom's group, arrives in Ylisse and met up with Owain. Later, after Chrom decided to have a meeting with Frederick, Geo Stelar and Luna Platz, the rest decided to meet up with the Shepherds at the garrison. Later, Chrom and the others arrived and claims to have an announcement.
In Chapter 3, Shun is seen walking across the corridors of Chrom's castle when his device detected a Blessed in the area, much to his awe and surprise.
In Chapter 4, Shun, alongside his team, Lissa, Donnel, Ricken, Henry and Miriel, are seen walking around a forest somewhere in Ylisstol when they came across Nowi. Then Emotionless emerges from the dark before taking on and defeating the creatures. After the battle, Shun's device responded towards Donnel, much to his amusement.
In Chapter 6, Shun, alongside his team, Chrom, Sumia, Robin, Owain, Gregor and Olivia met up with Basilio, Flavia, Lon'qu and Cordelia at East Ferox to discuss about the Emotionless when Raimi arrives and told everyone that the fort is being attacked by the Emotionless. Everyone fought the creatures and managed to get rid of them before heading back inside the fort.
In Chapter 7, Shun, alongside Monkey D. Luffy and Say'ri, are seen walking around the streets of Ylisstol when they came across the merchant, Anna.
In Chapter 10, Shun is seen guarding the castle's gates in Ylisse when Lucina's group and Kjelle's group arrives and reuniting with Chimera Wyld and Hardbody. In the garrison, Shun and Chimera explains to Luna about the Chikara Masters and the Quanli Vessels.
In Chapter 11, Shun is at the garrison when they heard a noise, they ran to the corridors to see Ryuuko Matoi and Ricken chasing a strange hooded figure. Everyone went after the figure and led them to a large grassy fields, and reveals itself as a Pokemon known as Hitmonlee. The Pokemon then revealed that he stole an ancient alien artifact called the Ara-Ka Cube inside the castle. Everyone watches in horror as Hitmonlee uses the alien artifact to summon a zombified version of Emmeryn and Phila, much to everyone's disgust. Hitmonlee then summoned a large number of Emotionless, forcing Shun and everyone to fight. Shun then ordered Donnel to activate his Gift which he obliged.
In Chapter 12 & Epilogue, Shun, alongside everyone, witnessed Donnel activating his Gift turning both Emmeryn and Phila back to life. After defeating the remaining Emotionless, forcing Hitmonlee to flee, life in Ylisstol went back to normal. Later, Shun said goodbye to Chimera Wyld and later told Dan Kusuo to give up from convincing Hardbody to stop their so-called 'rivalry'.
XP4 Heroes Coalition - Welcome to Herowood[]
In Chapter 6, Shun is mentioned by Chimera Wyld.
In the Epilogue, Shun, alongside Chouji "Marucho" Marukura, Dan Kusou and Mario Martinez, met up with Chimera Wyld, Himeno Kimihara, Manami Mitama and Selena von Urquia, and they welcomed as new members of the Heroes Coalitions, much to their joy.

XP4 Heroes Coalition - Date A Live[]
In Chapter 1, Shun, alongside the rest of the Squad of Excellence, made their arrival in Tengu City before splitting into four groups. Later on, he, alongside Sasuke Uchiha, Sting Eucliffe and Toma Wildchild, visited the shopping district where they briefly came across Kotori Itsuka and Shidou Itsuka, and helped the former retrieved her bag from a thief.
In Chapter 2, Shun, alongside the rest of the Squad of Excellence, reunited in the Tengu Tower when the Emotionless attacked and they immediately sprung into action. After defeating the creatures, they are confronted by Kotori Itsuka and Shidou Itsuka before being taken to the Fraxinus where they came to an agreement with Kotori, Shidou and the crew. Later that day, everyone arrives in the Itsuka Residence where Tooka Yatogami and Yoshino Himekawa greeted them.
In Chapter 3, Shun is mentioned in the earlier narrative. Later on, he, alongside the males of Squad of Excellence and Shidou Itsuka, are seen walking around the shopping district area when they came across Ai Yamabuki, Mai Hazakura & Mii Fujibakama and accused Shidou on making a gay harem which didn't sit well with Sting Eucliffe and scared the girls. After that, they met up with the girls in a restaurant when the Emotionless attacked which prompted the Squad of Excellence to spring into action.
In Chapter 4, Shun, alongside the rest of Squad of Excellence, are seen fighting off the Emotionless and were later aided by Hector Vanguard Jr. After the battle, the newcomer introduced himself and they gave him disapproving glares.
In Chapter 5, Shun, alongside the rest of the Squad of Excellence and Hector Vanguard Jr., returned to the Itsuka Residence where they regrouped with Shidou Itsuka and the Spirits alongside meeting Rinne Sonogami, and later learned that Shidou's life is in danger.
In Chapter 6, Shun, alongside Erica Fontaine, Gemini Sunrise, Hsien-Ko, Ichiro Ogami and Sakura Shinguji, are seen inside a cafe somewhere in Tengu City where they had a conversation about Team Capucho and their plans of kidnapping Shidou Itsuka.
In Chapter 7, Shun is present in the Sprinkler Party alongside everybody else and later joined Shidou Itsuka and Mizuno Higeki in blasting everyone with water guns and when Team Capucho made their presence, Shun got ready alongside everyone to take them on.
In Chapter 8, Shun participated in taking on Team Capucho and the Dark Followers when Kurumi Tokisaki made her presence, he then witnessed Team Capucho leaving the area by jumping into a red portal. After taking care of the remaining Dark Followers, he learned that Mizuno Higeki went berserk after Shidou Itsuka made a call to Kotori Itsuka.
In Chapter 9, Shun is present when Shidou Itsuka made a call to Kotori Itsuka and told her that Mizuno Higeki is fighting off Ellen Mira Mathers, and added that the former is using electricity to which he and Luna Platz believe that Mizuno is a Blessed. Later on, Shun and the others found Shidou and discussed a plan to stop the fight between Mizuno and Ellen. And after Alain Regulus, Kurumi Tokisaki, Rogue Cheney and Sting Eucliffe distracted Ellen and the AST respectively, Shidou managed to calm Mizuno down. And after that, Shidou kissed Mizuno, which made other Spirits jealous, sealing her powers but also resulted of her loosing her clothes, much to the non-locals' shock and disbelief.
In Chapter 10, Shun, alongside everyone, are seen making their way back to the Itsuka residence when they came across Mana Takamiya and Rinne Sonogami. The next day, Shun is present when Ibiki Morino arrives to tell Hector Vanguard Jr. the results of the DNA testing.

History[]
In Chapter 14, Shun, alongside Renji Abarai, Takeru Takaishi, Ulrich Stern and Zoro Roronoa, were found by Amity Blight, Heartful Punch, Luz Noceda and Undine Wells by the waterfalls somewhere in the island of Elsaragozademontelban where they are facing a group of lizardmen. After taking care of the creatures, the two sides introduced themselves to each other and decided to make their way back to the bus.
In Chapter 20, Shun is mentioned to have reunited with Ace Grit, Alice Gehabich, Baron Leltoy, Chouji "Marucho" Marukura, Dan Kusou, Fabia Sheen, Julie Makimoto, Mira Fermin, Ren Krawler and Runo Misaki.

Shun has the ability to manipulate shadows. Shun learned how to use chakra and magic. He also learned six moves of the Rokushiki and also gained the power to use Kenbonshoku Haki.

- Between the original series and New Vestroia, Shun cut his hair. It began to grow out in Mechtanium Surge.
- Shun is the second oldest out of the 6 by 1–2 years.
- Some early promotional material for New Vestroia depicts Shun's outfit in different colors.
- Shun is one of the only two characters who have a former Guardian Bakugan and two new Guardian Bakugan during the events of New Vestroia, the other being Marucho.
- Shun's last name, Kazami, means "Wind Watching". Similarly, his first name in Japanese, (shun), means "Speed". His whole name, transliterated from Japanese, means "Wind Sees Speed".
- With the exception of Skyress, all of his Bakugan have some similarities affiliated with being ninja-like and lacking a mouth.
- Also with the exception of Taylean, Jaakor and Orbeum, most of his other Bakugan have similarities to birds.
- Shun Kazami shares his first name and initials as Shun Kurosaki of Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC V. Both of them also have bird related monsters.
- Shun's Castle Knight uniform bear resemble with Uryū Ishida's Quincy Uniform from BLEACH in anime-only arc, Bount Arc.
- Shun's Mectanium Surge arc 1 outfit resembles Cheren's Pokémon Black and White 2 outfit.
- Shun looks a bit like Dragon Shiryū from Saint Seiya, while he also shares the same name of another character of the same anime: Andromeda Shun.
