Rin is the main protagonist from the Shelter animation music video.
Rin is a 17-year old who lives in a virtual reality that she can control with a tablet and stylus. However, Rin is all alone and doesn't remember how or why she ended up there.
In the AWA fics, Rin, going by the full name of Rin Asunaro, was saved by The Author and Neptune and later become a student at the AWA Academy. Rin is part of Class 11.
Appearance[]
As a child, Rin had brown hair and eyes, though in the simulation, both had grown to become a lighter shade of red. She also is shown to have worn a pink dress and a large white bow in her hair when she was younger; however, in the simulation she is seen to be wearing the same white bow and pink dress with a white overcoat. In reality, she is shown to be nude.
Personality[]
Rin still acts like a child despite being 17 years old because she was a child when she first entered the virtual world (and has been alone since).
Rin assures the audience that she doesn't feel alone or troubled at the start of the short. While she does have fun in her paradise, we quickly see this is not the case at all.
Rin happens to be very cheerful and optimistic. Even after finding out the truth of the world she lives in and the fate of Earth, she still remains optimistic and hopeful for the future since her father's love is always with her.

- In the AWA fics, Rin's father, Shigeru is confirmed to be alive by Lelouch Lamperogue.
- In the AWA fics, Rin was adopted by The Author and Neptune. However, whether it was done legally is unknown.
- Rin's surname is unknown, though potential candidates are included in the animation commentary book.
