Red is the main protagonist of the Pokemon anime and games.
This young man is perhaps the most iconic human character of the series. Red is an 11-year old from Pallet Town who used to be the best of friends with a boy named Blue.
At the start of Pokémon Red and Blue, Red and Blue are given a task by Professor Oak, Blue's grandfather and the local expert on Pokémon: to travel around the Kanto region and capture all 150 known Pokémon to complete the Pokédex, a device that records data on Pokémon encountered and captured.
In the AWA fics, Red, going by the full name of Red Himura, is a student at the AWA Academy and is part of Class 4.
In the XP4 fics, Red debuted in the XP4 Heroes Coalition - Neo-City Diaries.

Red is a cheerful and determined trainer, who wants to capture all the Pokémon to complete his Pokédex for Prof. Oak.

In Chapter 5, Red is seen alongside Mato Kuroi, Taro Yamada, Dac, Karizza Stronghold, Sakura Kinomoto, Kaoru Matsubara, Maya Sparrow, Haru Glory, Shana, Sylvia van Hossen and Erena Reese are seen gathered inside the training area in the Training Facility. They all wonder about the decreased members in their group when Vegeta arrives and revealed that a lot of trainees drops out, much to their shock. Later, Son Goku arrives and reassured everyone that training goes on, Goku then ordered everyone to do a 500 laps, much to their dread and annoyance, Goku then minimized it to 20 laps.

In Chapter 8, Red is seen having a conversation with Taichi "Tai" Yagami at the courtyard of the Vanguard Academy.
In Chapter 9, Red is seen working in a Pokemon-themed cafe somewhere in Neo-City while spinning an arrow sign.
In Chapter 12, Red, alongside Haru Glory, Leon Kuwata and Mondo Oowada, are seen running around the tracks in the Training Camp.
In Chapter 14, Red, alongside Haru Glory and Tucker Noble, witnessed Wesley Bryans getting knocked out by a ball before taking him to the infirmary. He then witnessed once more Wesley getting knocked out by a ball, courtesy of Dan Mandel.
In Chapter 19, Red met the new recruits Eddy Skipper McGee, Marcus "The Kane" McGee, Eddward Marion "Double D, Edd" Smith, Edwin Horace "Ed" Williams and Rolf Yrmi. During the training session with the Scout, Red, alongside Ed and Jake Long, are seen climbing a wall only for them to fall on the other side with the wall falling on top of the Scout. Later that night and after a whole day of training, Red took part of the little get-together at the training facility's cafeteria.
In Chapter 28, Red is seen inside the Training Facility of Neo-City and later took part of a rope climbing exercise which ended in chaos.
In Chapter 31, Red is seen in the track field of the Training Camp where Nora Valkyrie tries to test out her newest invention when Orihime Inoue arrives and told them that there is a gathering in the auditorium. Later in the auditorium, he witnessed the formation of the New Age Avengers.
In Chapter 44, Red is welcomed as an official member of the Dream Team.

In Chapter 5, Red, alongside Mondo Oowada, are seen having a conversation outside the Mister Inasal eatery somewhere in the district of Triple X in Herowood when Subaru Natsuki walked past them.

In Chapter 18, Red, alongside the rest of the Dream Team, arrives at the Tenbi Academy where they saved the members of the Maken-Ki from Peeper Pete. Afterwards, everyone decided to have a discussion in the headmaster's office.
In Chapter 19, Red, alongside the rest of the Dream Team, are present inside the Tenbi Academy's headmaster office where they had a conversation with the members of the Maken-Ki and a few faculty members about Peeper Pete's goals alongside forming an alliance between the two sides.

- Red alongside Charizard are the first characters from Pokemon to be introduced in the AWA fics.
- Red caught more Pokémon than any other character from any Pokémon anime, having a record total of 150 captures.
- It is interesting to note that the Mega Stones that Red uses are introduced in the sixth generation, where there are 719 Pokémon. However, due to the fact that the generation that Red is mainly from Generation I only has 151 Pokémon, Red has "caught" all of the Pokemon (with the exception of Mew).
- Red's name means "One with red hair".
