Keine Kamishirasawa Render 01

Keine Kamishirasawa is a character from the Touhou Project franchise.

A were-hakutaku who helps run a temple school for the children of the Human Village. Despite transforming into a youkai on the full moon, she is staunchly on the side of humanity, and protects the village in times of danger. Keine possesses the ability to "eat history" in human form, and to "create history" in hakutaku form, but her powers only affect how things are perceived. She's also one of Mokou's few friends.

In the AWA fics, Keine is set to debut in a future AWA storyline.

In the XP4 fics, Keine debuted in the XP4 Heroes of the Multiverse - All-Star Adventures.

Appearance[]

Keine is a young woman with a pale skin tone, she has a long silver hair with blue highlights and she has brown eyes. She wears a hat that looks like some kind of building with a red ribbon on top and glyphs inscribed along its side. She wears a dark-blue frilled dress with large square-shaped holes at the bottom over a white short sleeved shirt with a red ribbon is tied to the bottom of the collar and puffy shoulders, she wears white socks and black slip shoes with red ribbons.

Personality[]

Keine is loyal to her duties to the Human Village, both as a schoolteacher and as its guardian. As a proper teacher, she doesn't like people who are discourteous, but other than that, she is generally friendly towards humans - except, perhaps, for when she has assumed her hakutaku form.

XP4 Fanfics[]

XP4 Heroes of the Multiverse - All-Star Adventures[]

In Chapter 20, Keine, alongside Fujiwara no Mokou, came across Kennedy "Kenny" MacIntosh, Blu the Honor, Ruderford "Rudy" Tucker, Alice Margatroid, Stahn Aileron and Rutee Katrea in the streets of the Human Village and witnessed Kenny and Blu arguing. After Kenny left, Keine had a conversation with Blu afterwards.

In Chapter 22, Keine, alongside Kennedy "Kenny" MacIntosh, are seen walking in the streets of the Human Village having an argument over Kenny's behavior. Later that day, she, alongside Alice Margatroid, Blu the Honor, Fujiwara no Mokou, Ruderford "Rudy" Tucker, Rutee Katrea and Stahn Aileron, proceeds to lock up Kenny inside a cage outside the village when they heard a scream before rushing back to the village while leaving Kenny behind, much to his dismay. She then took part of fighting a group of Nightmares when Marth and Zed Irysh arrives, and after the battle, they decided to have a conversation in her school.

In Chapter 23, Keine is present inside a classroom of her school in the Human Village where they had a conversation with Marth and Zed Irysh about how the two met before teaming-up with them in hunting down the Curse Maker.

Abilities[]

Keine possesses a different ability for each of her forms. In human form, she can "eat" history, as she did in the events of Imperishable Night. Though it is stated as "eating", it is clear that she is only concealing history from outside viewers. In her hakutaku form, however, she is able to create history; she is also apparently aware of the entire history of Gensokyo in this state, according to her official profile.

Hieda no Akyuu, however, states in Perfect Memento in Strict Sense that the Hieda clan's history is above Keine's powers, and is thus not "hers".

Trivia[]

  • Keine seems to have a strong desire to protect humans and would probably be the safest person in Gensokyo for any human to be around.
  • When she becomes a Hakutaku, her clothes change color and she seems to grow a tail.
  • Keine fits the description in Perfect Memento in Strict Sense of one who acquired therianthropy, rather than one who was born with it. Her transformation into a were-hakutaku is not a full body-transformation, which she points out to Yukari in Imperishable Night, whereas one who is born as a were-beast takes on a full body beast form during a full moon. If this is the case, it would mean Keine was once human but cursed to be a were-hakutaku.
  • Most of her spell cards are based on the history of the Emperor of Japan.
  • Keine is the only character in Imperishable Night to have 2 Last Word Spell Cards rather than 1.
