Furan Takaki is a character from the Maken-Ki! anime and manga.
A third-year student and the Academy's student council president, which also makes her the head of their security division by proxy. She's known for her strict no-nonsense attitude and is a stickler for enforcing proper discipline at the school. Because her position is administrative, it's rare to see her participate in battle. Therefore, she often delegates responsibility to Haruko. Nonetheless, she's one of their highest ranked ability users and possesses Habaya: another of the original 8 Maken. It's also one of the only two that were originally owned by Himegami's mother, Yatsuno.
In the AWA fics, Furan is a student at the AWA Academy.
In the XP4 fics, Furan debuted in XP4 Heroes Coalition - Mission Chronicles.
Appearance
Furan is average height (160cm), with blonde hair and red rimmed glasses. She has a 'normal' bust size, being a C, and has her hair braided into a ring that hangs from the back of her head, with a bun where the braid meets her head.
When sniping, with or without her maken, she removes her glasses. This implies that Furan is farsighted, and so can shoot better over long distances without her glasses, although it has never been mentioned. When using Habaya, her hair also seems to come free from its braid, reaching down to her waist.
Personality
Furan is relatively strict, as she is conscious of her position as the head of Maken-Ki and thus the role model for her her subordinates.
She is also severely androphobic. Otohime reveals that her fear of men is because, as an advanced talent, she was chosen by Kamigari, but after coming across as too proud in her refusal, she was taken as one of Ouken's mistresses, and she was ravished in place of Yuuka.
XP4 Fanfic
Furan is a member of the Heroes Coalitions and is part of the Maken-Ki. She also attends the Vanguard Academy as a student.
XP4 Heroes Coalition - Mission Chronicles
In Chapter 18, Furan alongside the rest of Maken-Ki are seen chasing a criminal named Peeper Pete around the academy and when they cornered him, Pete unexepectedly taken them all down and were about to abduct them using the Dark Followers. Fortunately for them, the Dream Team arrives and save them and after that, Furan and the others thanked the team. Medaka Kurokami then suggested that they had a discussion in their headmaster's office.
In Chapter 19, Furan is present in Tenbi Academy's headmaster office where the Dream Team explains things to them. She along with everyone agreed to form an alliance with the Heroes Coalitions and later heard Peeper Pete warning everyone that his fellow followers will do everything to awakened their goddess, Lady Adele before getting knocked-out by Tenten.
XP4 Heroes Coalition - Neo-City Diaries
In Chapter 65, Furan alongside the rest of Maken-Ki are seen inside the joint room of the Disciplinary Committee and the Safety Patrol having a conversation with Kiyotaka Ishimaru, Cornelius Fillmore and Ingrid Third. Furan then expressed uneasiness towards Kiyotaka which he noticed, Yuuka Amato then pointed out her fear of men which Kiyotaka reassured her that he'll keep his distance from her which is grateful for.
In Chapter 66, Furan is present during Vegeta's serenade in the school grounds of the Vanguard Academy.
Abilities
Habaya - One of the original eight maken, Takaki's maken Habaya is a bow that fires arrows of light. As long as the target has touched one of the crystals created from the bow, these arrows will chase their target until they hit it. However, this maken uses a lot of energy, so it cannot be used continuously. This, along with Murakumo, was originally owned by Yamato no Orochi.
Trivia
- In the anime, it is shown that Furan is very attracted to Akaya Kodai, and falls for him, because she sees him as a gentleman during their first meeting. This is a stark contrast to her usual androphobic self.
