Gen Tagayashi

Gen Tagayashi is a character from the Maken-Ki! anime and manga.

One of the co-founders of the original Maken-ki, who now serves as the academy's Makensmith. In spite of his achievement, he isn't satisfied with his creations being referred to as "artificial", and aspires to create Maken that surpass the original 8, by Yamato no Orochi. He's also taken an interest in Takeru, recognizing him as the son of Takeshi Oyama, who was his (and Minori's) former sensei.

In the AWA fics, Gen is part of the AWA as a staff member.

In the XP4 fics, Gen debuted in XP4 Heroes Coalition - Mission Chronicles.

Appearance[]

Gen is a tall man with a messy orange hair, a dark-blue eyes, two scars on his left cheek and a goatee. He wears a white headband, a dark-brown leather jacket over a light-green green shirt, black pants and white & red rubber shoes.

Personality[]

In spite of his achievement, he isn't satisfied with his creations being referred to as "artificial", and aspires to create Maken that surpass the original 8, by Yamato no Orochi.  He is also hotblooded once he started on what a genius he is, or he'll never shut up about it. Which is why Minori makes it a point to do it for him.

XP4 Heroes Coalition - Mission Chronicles[]

In Chapter 19, Gen is present in Tenbi Academy's headmaster office where the Dream Team explains things to them. He along with everyone agreed to form an alliance with the Heroes Coalitions and later heard Peeper Pete warning everyone that his fellow followers will do everything to awakened their goddess, Lady Adele before getting knocked-out by Tenten.

Abilities[]

Every student and even the teachers at Tenbi use Maken that he's created for them, which are tailor-made to accommodate them, based on their Element and their inherent ability. Gen's skill as a Makensmith and his past as one of the founding members of the original Maken-ki makes him a pretty big deal. Moreso, once you learn he's one of only five people in the world who can use Black Element.

Trivia[]

  • Gen has taken an interest in Takeru, recognizing him as the son of Takeshi Ooyama, who was his (and Minori's) former sensei.
