Sumire Takahana is the main protagonist from the Venus Versus Virus anime and manga.
Sumire is a student at Shirogane Girls Academy and is the newest member of the Venus Vanguard, despite being terribly scared of Viruses. While initially she cannot be of much help to Lucia, they eventually find out that whenever her body reacts to the special chemical used to defeat Viruses (the so called Vaccine), she transforms into a "Berserker Mode", or a living Anti-Virus.
In the XP4 fics, Sumire is a member of the Heroes Coalition and is part of the Destiny's Empire. She also attends the Vanguard Academy as a student.
In the AWA fics, Sumire debuted in the All World Alliance Stories. She is a student at the AWA Academy and is part of Class 9.
Appearance[]
A young teenage high school girl with a petite figure and a height of about 5 feet and 1 inch. Sumire has short red hair that stops just above her shoulders which becomes slightly more flaired when in "berserker mode". She has emerald green eyes which change to red and gain pointed cross like pupil when in berserker mode similiar to those of viruses. It should be noted that when in her berserker mode Sumire speaks in a demented like voice. According to Sumire lucia gives off a faint smell of roses which is actually a part of their scant intertwined past.
Personality[]
Sumire is a young high school girl with a kind heart. She loves all her friends dearly, and becomes upset when they are troubled or in danger. She joins the Venus Vanguard in order to help Lucia fight Viruses, depite being completely terrified of them. Through the series she bonds with the members of the Vanguard, particularly Lucia. Every time she faces a hardship and finds herself too weak, she vows to get stronger.
Her personality in Berserker form however is drastically different from her normal persona, at least until she learns to control it. While in Berserker form, Sumire feels no pain, and most likely few or no emotions, rendering her fearless in battle. She is shown to be violent in Berserker form as well, and hostile to friend and foe alike when out of control.
Abilities[]
Sumire is a competent gun user. In her Berserker form, Sumire becomes stronger and violent, and is capable of defeating Viruses with her bare hands. However, in Berseker Mode, she cannot tell friend from foe.
Trivia[]
- She's extremely close to Lucia, to the point where the English translation is sold as a yuri manga, however she also has a male love interest.
- Sumire Takahana keeps flowers around to lend cheer to Lucia's environment. For those non-Japanese speakers, hana means "flower." The name Sumire is also Japanese for "violet".
