Ayase Ayatsuji is a character from the Chivalry of the Failed Knight anime and light novels.
A third-year student of Hagun Academy and the daughter of a famous swordsman named Kaito Ayatsuji. Ayase approaches Ikki and asks for his guidance to improve her swordsmanship.
In the AWA fics, Ayase is set to debut in a future AWA storyline.
In the XP4 fics, Ayase debuted in the XP4 Heroes Coalition - Kick-Off!.
Appearance[]
Ayase is a beautiful young girl with a voluptuous womanly figure, and long, jet black hair that covers her forehead and most of her eyes. It is also back length. She has very gentle, dark brown eyes, which, like her personality, shows her as a kind person. Ayase is usually seen wearing her school uniform.
Personality[]
Ayase is a very shy and anxious person, and is shy around everyone. She is especially shy around boys her age, as she has never actually seen another boy who either wasn't her mentor, or pupils of said mentor, which causes her to be very unwilling to look one in the eyes. However, it has been shown when holding a sword that her shyness and anxiety passes as though it was never even there, as seen when she showed a vast amount of capability when training with Ikki.
She also has a dark and deceptive nature as shown when she tricked Ikki into activating Ittou Shura a few hours before their match, although her regret over her action ended up dulling her skills during their match, which Ikki noted was because she honestly didn't want to do such things to him.
Despite Ayase's shyness around boys, she is still just as interested in love and romance as any other girl of her age. She even gleefully admitted to Stella that she was jealous of her (Stella's) relationship with Ikki and wanted to fall in love too. She also enjoyed asking and teasing Stella about the details of her love life.

In Chapter 12, Ayase, alongside her team, the Full Force Guerilla, are seen in an empty city where they're tasked to stop Dr. Dolan Danger and his army from taking it over. After defeating Dolan's army with the doctor fleeing, Ayase and the others regrouped, discussing of cleaning the city.
XP4 Heroes Coalition - Mission Chronicles[]
In Chapter 8, Ayase, alongside the rest of the Full Force Guerrilla, just finished their mission in a rain forest somewhere in an unnamed planet and are on their way back to their ship when they found themselves surrounded by a large mercenary group called the Vultures. The leader, Mace Wyndu, introduced himself while revealing to be Kazeyoshi Imai's former boss before demanding them information about the Ara-ka Cube but they managed to escape. On their ship, everyone had a conversation on their recent experience with Kazeyoshi sharing what kind of a person Mace is.

In Chapter 1, Ayase, alongside a group of swordspersons, are seen doing an early morning sword practice at one lawn in the Dormitory Village.

In Chapter 4, Ayase, alongside Ino Yamanaka and Kat Alua, are seen having a conversation at one table inside the Marty's Lounge of Herowood.

Abilities[]
Wound Manipulation: Ayase's ability as a Blazer, Ayase can inflict wounds and make those made by her sword more severe through her Device. The concept works not only on humans but on objects and surroundings as well. Information about her ability is sparse due to Ayase's lack of participation in official matches for the previous year.
Expert Swordsmanship: Having been trained by her father since youth, Ayase is shown to be quite skilled with the sword and is an experienced practitioner of the Ayatsuji Itto-ryu style of swordsmanship. Ikki is amazed at her expertise in the sword style developed by her father, but he also notes that her style mimics the Last Samurai's masculine movements too much. After training with Ikki, Ayase becomes more accustomed to using her female physiology in accordance to the Ayatsuji Itto-ryu, allowing her to improve more on her father's techniques.
Great Stamina: Ayase is shown to have a great amount of stamina, being able to easily follow Ikki and Stella in their daily jog.
Device[]
Hizume ("Scarlet Nail"): A vivid red blade that takes the form of a Japanese katana without a hand guard (shirasaya type). In the anime, it is manifested by Ayase by saying the command "turn scarlet" and opening a rift from where the sword emerges.
- Mark of the Wind (Kaze no Tsumeato): Ayase's Noble Art. She cuts through space using Hizume which effectively leaves behind a vacuum blade. These blades are activated when Ayase points down Hizume and taps on the hand guard using her little finger. When triggered, it unleashes a sharp gust of wind that slices through the openings created by Hizume.
