Aoi Futaba is one of the main characters of the Vivid Red Operation anime.
Aoi is Akane's best friend and classmate in Oshima North Hill Elementary and Junior High School. She is known for her wealthy status and her poor medical condition. Because of her medical condition, she traveled from Blue Island to Oshima to undergo treatment. Aoi is a daughter of a wealthy family, and both her parents are often busy at work.
In the AWA fics, Aoi is a student at the AWA Academy.
In the XP4 fics, Aoi debuted in the XP4 Heroes Coalition - Vividred Operation.
Appearance[]
She has a long blue hair, blue eyes and fair complexion. She wears a long one-piece light-blue sundress, white frilly socks and black shoes. She wears a blue palette suit in her hero form.
Personality[]
Befitting her lady-like image, Aoi is soft-spoken and acts with grace. For some reason, she hates tomatoes, and ironically, this allowed her to create a close bond with her best friend Akane.
XP4 Fanfics[]
Aoi is a member of the Heroes Coalitions and is part of the Bullet Kingdom as an honorary member. She also attends the Vanguard Academy as a student.
XP4 Heroes Coalition - Vividred Operation[]
In Chapter 1, Aoi, alongside Akane Isshiki, Himawari Shinomiya and Wakaba Saegusa, are seen hanging out in a beach somewhere in the Izu Ooshima Island when they got attacked by Karasu but is saved by the arrivals of Louie Lovenhope and Rei Kuroki. After Karasu fled, everyone met up with Kenjirou Isshiki and Mizuha Amagi in the Isshiki Residence where they had a discussion about the current situation when they witnessed an Alone getting destroyed by somebody else. Later, everyone arrives back at the beach where they met up with Gingka Hagane and the members of the New Age Avengers.
In Chapter 2, Aoi, alongside the members of the New Age Avengers, Akane Isshiki, Gingka Hagane, Himawari Shinomiya, Kenjirou Isshiki, Mizuha Amagi, Rei Kuroki and Wakaba Saegusa, are seen gathered inside the NDF Headquarters where they had a conversation with Yuuri Shijou about the current situation and later witnessed Mizuha rejecting Eddy Skipper McGee. Later that night in the Isshiki residence, everyone are joined by Mashiro Isshiki and Momo Isshiki for dinner and had a rather wacky conversation.
In Chapter 3, Aoi, alongside Akane Isshiki, Rei Kuroki and Rolf Yrmi, are seen fishing on a rocky platform somewhere in the Izu Ooshima Island when they witnessed Rolf catching a shark and fighting. Later on, she, alongside everyone, are present in another beach while getting ready for their battle against the Alones and the Emotionless.
In Chapter 5, Aoi took part in fighting the Alone and Karasu in the skies of Izu Ooshima Island, and they managed to destroy the Alone and sent Karasu packing. Later that night, she took part in a celebration party in the Isshiki Residence for their victory over Karasu and other stuffs.
In the Epilogue, Aoi, alongside the members of the New Age Avengers, Akane Isshiki, Gingka Hagane, Himawari Shinomiya, Rei Kuroki and Wakaba Saegusa, arrives in the Training Camp in Neo-City. She, alongside Duncan Nelson, Taro Yamada, Wakaba and Yoshika Miyafuji, are seen in the courtyard where they came across with Kafuu Kalawaiʻa and Luna Loud.
XP4 Heroes Coalition - Neo-City Diaries[]
In Chapter 50, Aoi is seen hanging around in the training area of the Training Camp when she witnessed Raya Amanda and Sylvia van Hossen challenging Eddy Skipper McGee and Marcus "The Kane" McGee for another game of H.A.V.O.C. Marathon which the boys accepted.
In Chapter 52, Aoi, alongside the rest of the New Age Avengers, are mentioned as a whole group in a conversation of Geraldo Axel, Needles Kane and Vaas Montenegro, and later with Ms. Fortune.
Abilities[]
Aoi is the second known user of the Vivid System, right after Akane activates the system for the first time. Her Palette Suit, which bears a close resemblance to Akane's, has a blue color scheme instead of Akane's red and uses a hammer as her primary weapon.
- Superhuman Strength - Aoi is capable of slowing down a flying fighter jet to a complete stop and has more than enough strength to carry a fighter plane from its nose. The fact that she can wield the Naked Impact, which is a heavy weapon in itself, also tells about Aoi's immense strength.
- Weapon: Naked Impact - Aoi's personal weapon in the form of a two-headed hammer with a slender handle. It is known to be very heavy, and has the ability to deflect incoming attacks by simply using the weapon as a shield or by hitting incoming projectiles by using it like a hammer.
- Docking Operation - Allows Aoi to combine consciousnesses with other users of the Vivid System, activated by a kiss on the forehead.
- Docking Operation: Vivid Blue Operation - When the conditions are met, Aoi can merge with Akane, combining their consciousnesses into one physical body, with changes to their outfits and weapon dependent on which is the receiver or the giver of the kiss. During their first Docking as Vivid Blue Operation, Aoi kissed Akane, causing Akane to take over their temporary body while Aoi governs the color scheme of the Palette Suit and weapon used.
- Upgraded Weapon: Vivid Impact - A much larger version of Naked Impact, with upgraded versions of the basic properties of the Naked Impact. It also has the ability to gather power by releasing the safety protocols inplemented into the weapon.
- Final Operation - Upon gathering the desired amount of energy, Akane and Aoi can release this into a powerful hammer strike, which has enough power to defeat an empowered Alone in one strike.
- Docking Operation: Vivid Blue Operation - When the conditions are met, Aoi can merge with Akane, combining their consciousnesses into one physical body, with changes to their outfits and weapon dependent on which is the receiver or the giver of the kiss. During their first Docking as Vivid Blue Operation, Aoi kissed Akane, causing Akane to take over their temporary body while Aoi governs the color scheme of the Palette Suit and weapon used.
